Bank & Post Office

In Part 3, we looked at health. Today, we handle business. Whether you are sending a package home or opening a local حِسَاب (Account), these terms are essential for daily life.

1. Financial Transactions (الْمُعَامَلَاتُ الْمَالِيَّة)

تَحْوِيل (Tahweel) - Transfer
Example: أُرِيدُ عَمَلَ تَحْوِيلٍ مَالِيٍّ لِلْخَارِج.
(I want to make a money transfer abroad.)
بِطَاقَة (Bitaqah) - Card
Example: لَقَدْ فَقَدْتُ بِطَاقَتِي الْبَنْكِيَّة.
(I have lost my bank card.)
سَحْب (Sahb) - Withdrawal
Example: أَيْنَ يَقَعُ جِهَازُ الصَّرَّافِ الآلِيِّ لِلسَّحْب؟
(Where is the ATM located for withdrawal?)

2. Mailing & Logistics (الْبَرِيدُ وَالشَّحْن)

English Arabic Example Sentence
Package / Parcel طَرْد عِنْدِي طَرْدٌ أُرِيدُ إِرْسَالَه.
Stamp طَابِع كَمْ سِعْرُ الطَّابِعِ لِهَذِهِ الرِّسَالَة؟
Address عُنْوَان اكْتُبِ الْعُنْوَانَ بِشَكْلٍ وَاضِح.

💳 ATM Tip: As-Sarraf al-Ali

In the Arab world, the ATM is called "الصَّرَّافُ الآلِيّ" (As-sarraf al-ali). You will see these everywhere. If a shop doesn't take cards, they might say: "نَقْداً فَقَط" (Naqdan faqat) – "Cash only."
