Arabic Daily Life Part 5: Hobbies and Socializing Like a Local

Daily Life Series: Part 5 (Final)

Hobbies & Socializing

We have learned to shop, eat, and stay healthy. Now, in the final part of our series, we learn to **live**. Sharing your هِوَايَة (Hobby) with others is the fastest way to turn classmates into friends.

1. Discussing Hobbies (الْهِوَايَاتُ الْمُفَضَّلَة)

قِرَاءَة (Qira'ah) - Reading
Example: الْقِرَاءَةُ هِيَ هِوَايَتِي الْمُفَضَّلَة.
(Reading is my favorite hobby.)
رِيَاضَة (Riyadah) - Sports
Example: أُحِبُّ مُمَارَسَةَ الرِّيَاضَةِ فِي الصَّبَاح.
(I like practicing sports in the morning.)
سَفَر (Safar) - Travel
Example: هَلْ تُحِبُّ السَّفَرَ إِلَى بُلْدَانٍ جَدِيدَة؟
(Do you like traveling to new countries?)

2. Social Invitations (الدَّعْوَةُ وَالِاجْتِمَاع)

English Arabic Example Sentence
Coffee / Cafe مَقْهَى هَلْ نَذْهَبُ إِلَى الْمَقْهَى مَعاً؟
Friend صَدِيق سَأُقَابِلُ صَدِيقاً لِي غَداً.
Free time وَقْتُ فَرَاغ مَاذَا تَفْعَلُ فِي وَقْتِ فَرَاغِك؟

☕ Social Culture: The Invitation

In Arab culture, hospitality is key. If you are invited to someone's home, it is polite to bring a small gift like sweets or flowers. You might hear the host say "تَفَضَّل" (Tafaddal) – "Please, come in" or "Please, take this."

Congratulations! You have finished the Daily Life Mega Series.

What should we explore next? Perhaps a deep dive into Arabic Logic (Mantiq)?
