🛋 1–20: Household Vocabulary with Example Sentences
1. بَيْت (bayt) – house
أَسْكُنُ فِي بَيْتٍ جَمِيلٍ.
Askunu fī baytin jamīlin.
I live in a beautiful house.
2. غُرْفَة (ghurfah) – room
غُرْفَتِي نَظِيفَةٌ وَمُرَتَّبَةٌ.
Ghurfatī naẓīfah wa murattabah.
My room is clean and organized.
3. سَرِير (sarīr) – bed
أَنَامُ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ.
Anāmu ʿalā as-sarīri kulla laylatin.
I sleep on the bed every night.
4. كُرْسِيّ (kursiyy) – chair
أَجْلِسُ عَلَى الكُرْسِيِّ لِلدِّرَاسَةِ.
Ajlisu ʿalā al-kursiyyi lid-dirāsah.
I sit on the chair to study.
5. طَاوِلَة (ṭāwilah) – table
نَضَعُ الطَّعَامَ عَلَى الطَّاوِلَةِ.
Naḍaʿu aṭ-ṭaʿāma ʿalā aṭ-ṭāwilah.
We put the food on the table.
6. أَرِيْكَة (ʾarīkah) – sofa/couch
أُحِبُّ الجُلُوسَ عَلَى الأَرِيكَةِ.
Uḥibbu al-julūsa ʿalā al-ʾarīkah.
I love sitting on the sofa.
7. نَافِذَة (nāfidhah) – window
أَفْتَحُ النَّافِذَةَ لِلتَّهْوِيَةِ.
Aftaḥu an-nāfidhah lit-tahwiyah.
I open the window for ventilation.
8. بَاب (bāb) – door
أُغْلِقُ البَابَ قَبْلَ النَّوْمِ.
Ughliqu al-bāba qabla an-nawm.
I close the door before sleeping.
9. حَائِط (ḥāʾiṭ) – wall
عَلَّقْتُ صُوَرَةً عَلَى الحَائِطِ.
ʿAllaqtū ṣūrah ʿalā al-ḥāʾiṭ.
I hung a picture on the wall.
10. سَقْف (saqf) – ceiling
السَّقْفُ عَالٍ وَجَمِيلٌ.
As-saqfu ʿālin wa jamīlun.
The ceiling is high and beautiful.
11. أَرْض (arḍ) – floor/ground
نُنَظِّفُ الأَرْضَ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ.
Nunaẓẓifu al-arḍa kulla yawmin.
We clean the floor every day.
12. مِرْآة (mirʾāh) – mirror
أَنْظُرُ فِي المِرْآةِ قَبْلَ الخُرُوجِ.
Anẓuru fī al-mirʾāh qabla al-khurūj.
I look in the mirror before going out.
13. مِصْبَاح (miṣbāḥ) – lamp/light
أُشَغِّلُ المِصْبَاحَ عِنْدَ المَسَاءِ.
Ushaghghilu al-miṣbāḥa ʿinda al-masāʾ.
I turn on the lamp in the evening.
14. سَجَّادَة (sajjādah) – carpet/rug
فِي غُرْفَتِي سَجَّادَةٌ كَبِيرَةٌ.
Fī ghurfatī sajjādah kabīrah.
There's a big carpet in my room.
15. مِكْنَسَة (miknasah) – broom
أَسْتَخْدِمُ المِكْنَسَةَ لِلتَّنْظِيفِ.
Astaʿmilu al-miknasah lit-tanẓīf.
I use the broom for cleaning.
16. ثَلَّاجَة (thallājah) – refrigerator
أَضَعُ الطَّعَامَ فِي الثَّلَّاجَةِ.
Aḍaʿu aṭ-ṭaʿāma fī ath-thallājah.
I put the food in the fridge.
17. فُرْن (furn) – oven
نَخْبِزُ الخُبْزَ فِي الفُرْنِ.
Nakhbizu al-khubza fī al-furn.
We bake bread in the oven.
18. مِغْسَلَة (mighsalah) – sink
أَغْسِلُ يَدَيَّ فِي المِغْسَلَةِ.
Aghsilu yadayya fī al-mighsalah.
I wash my hands in the sink.
19. مِكْوَاة (mikwāh) – iron
أُكَوِّي مَلَابِسِي بِالمِكْوَاةِ.
Ukkawwī malābīsī bi al-mikwāh.
I iron my clothes with the iron.
20. مِرْوَحَة (mirwaḥah) – fan
المِرْوَحَةُ تُبَرِّدُ الغُرْفَةَ.
Al-mirwaḥah tubarridu al-ghurfah.
The fan cools the room.
