At the Hotel (فِي الْفُنْدُق)

Traveling to an Arabic-speaking country is an unforgettable experience. To make your trip smooth, you need to master the language of hospitality. In Part 1 of our Travel Series, we check into the hotel.

1. Essential Check-in Terms (مُصْطَلَحَاتُ الْفُنْدُق)

حَجْز (Hajz) - Reservation
Example: لَدَيَّ حَجْزٌ بِاسْمِي.
(I have a reservation in my name.)
غُرْفَة (Ghurfah) - Room
Example: أُرِيدُ غُرْفَةً مُطِلَّةً عَلَى الْبَحْر.
(I want a room with a sea view.)
مِفْتَاح (Miftah) - Key
Example: أَيْنَ مِفْتَاحُ الْغُرْفَةِ، مِنْ فَضْلِك؟
(Where is the room key, please?)

2. Services & Requests (الْخِدْمَات)

English Arabic Example Sentence
Breakfast الْإِفْطَار مَتَى يَبْدَأُ وَقْتُ الْإِفْطَار؟
Wi-Fi الْإِنْتَرْنِت مَا هِيَ كَلِمَةُ سِرِّ الْإِنْتَرْنِت؟
Air Conditioning الْمُكَيِّف الْمُكَيِّفُ لَا يَعْمَلُ جَيِّدًا.

🏨 Traveler's Note: Hospitality

In Arab hotels, the staff is known for being extremely helpful. If you need something, you can start your request with "مِنْ فَضْلِكَ" (Min fadlik - Please) or "لَوْ سَمَحْت" (Law samaht). They will appreciate the effort to speak their language!
