📚 1–20: School Vocabulary with Example Sentences
1. مَدْرَسَة (madrasa) – school
أَذْهَبُ إِلَى المَدْرَسَةِ كُلَّ صَبَاحٍ.
Adhhabu ilā al-madrasati kulla ṣabāḥ.
I go to school every morning.
2. مُعَلِّم (muʿallim) – male teacher
المُعَلِّمُ يُشْرِفُ عَلَى الدَّرْسِ.
Al-muʿallimu yushrifu ʿalā ad-dars.
The teacher supervises the lesson.
3. مُعَلِّمَة (muʿallimah) – female teacher
المُعَلِّمَةُ تَشْرَحُ الدَّرْسَ بِوُضُوحٍ.
Al-muʿallimah tashraḥu ad-darsa bi-wuḍūḥ.
The teacher explains the lesson clearly.
4. تِلْمِيذ (tilmīdh) – male student
التِّلْمِيذُ يَكْتُبُ فِي دَفْتَرِهِ.
At-tilmīdh yaktubu fī daftarihi.
The student writes in his notebook.
5. تِلْمِيذَة (tilmīdah) – female student
التِّلْمِيذَةُ تَقْرَأُ الكِتَابَ.
At-tilmīdah taqraʾu al-kitāba.
The student is reading the book.
6. دَرْس (dars) – lesson
الدَّرْسُ اليَوْمَ سَهْلٌ.
Ad-darsu al-yawma sahlun.
Today's lesson is easy.
7. صَفّ (ṣaff) – classroom
نَدْخُلُ إِلَى الصَّفِّ فِي السَّاعَةِ الثَّامِنَةِ.
Nadkhulu ilā aṣ-ṣaffi fī as-sāʿah ath-thāminah.
We enter the classroom at 8 o'clock.
8. مِقْلَمَة (miqlamah) – pencil case
أَضَعُ أَقْلَامِي فِي المِقْلَمَةِ.
Aḍaʿu aqlāmī fī al-miqlamah.
I put my pens in the pencil case.
9. قَلَم (qalam) – pen/pencil
أَكْتُبُ بِقَلَمٍ أَزْرَقَ.
Aktubu bi-qalamin azraq.
I write with a blue pen.
10. دَفْتَر (daftar) – notebook
الدَّفْتَرُ عَلَى الطَّاوِلَةِ.
Ad-daftaru ʿalā aṭ-ṭāwilah.
The notebook is on the table.
11. كِتَاب (kitāb) – book
أَقْرَأُ كِتَابًا فِي اللُّغَةِ العَرَبِيَّةِ.
Aqraʾu kitāban fī al-lughah al-ʿarabiyyah.
I'm reading a book in Arabic.
12. مِسْطَرَة (miṣṭarah) – ruler
أَرْسِمُ خُطُوطًا بِالمِسْطَرَةِ.
Arsimu khuṭūṭan bi-al-miṣṭarah.
I draw lines with the ruler.
13. مِمْحَاة (mimḥāh) – eraser
أُصَحِّحُ أَخْطَائِي بِالمِمْحَاةِ.
Uṣaḥḥiḥu akhṭāʾī bi-al-mimḥāh.
I correct my mistakes with the eraser.
14. سُبُّورَة (subbūrah) – board
المُعَلِّمُ يَكْتُبُ عَلَى السُّبُّورَةِ.
Al-muʿallimu yaktubu ʿalā as-subbūrah.
The teacher writes on the board.
15. حِصَّة (ḥiṣṣah) – period/class
الحِصَّةُ الجَايَةُ هِيَ الرِّيَاضِيَّاتُ.
Al-ḥiṣṣah al-jāyah hiya ar-riyāḍiyyāt.
The next period is Math.
16. جَدْوَل (jadwal) – schedule/timetable
أَنظُرُ فِي الجَدْوَلِ لِمَعْرِفَةِ الدُّرُوسِ.
Anẓuru fī al-jadwali li-maʿrifati ad-durūs.
I look at the timetable to know the lessons.
17. اِمْتِحَان (imtiḥān) – exam/test
عِنْدِي اِمْتِحَانٌ غَدًا.
ʿIndī imtiḥānun ghadan.
I have a test tomorrow.
18. وَظِيفَة (waẓīfah) – homework
أَكْتُبُ الوَظِيفَةَ بَعْدَ المَدْرَسَةِ.
Aktubu al-waẓīfah baʿda al-madrasah.
I write the homework after school.
19. مَكْتَبَة (maktabah) – library
أَذْهَبُ إِلَى المَكْتَبَةِ لِلقِرَاءَةِ.
Adhhabu ilā al-maktabah lil-qirāʾah.
I go to the library to read.
20. حَاسُوب (ḥāsūb) – computer
أَسْتَخْدِمُ الحَاسُوبَ فِي البَحْثِ.
