Transportation & Navigation
In Part 2, we visited landmarks. Now, we need to get there! In this final part of our Travel Series, we master the language of the road, the rail, and the map.
1. Modes of Transport (وَسَائِلُ الْمُوَاصَلَات)
(I want a taxi to the city center.)
(Where is the nearby train station?)
(When does the next bus arrive?)
2. Asking for Directions (السُّؤَالُ عَنِ الِاتِّجَاهَات)
| English | Arabic | Example Sentence |
|---|---|---|
| To the right | إِلَى الْيَمِين | اتَّجِهْ إِلَى الْيَمِينِ عِنْدَ الْإِشَارَة. |
| To the left | |
| Straight ahead | |
🗺️ Navigation Hack: Right vs. Left
A quick mnemonic to remember: Yamin (Right) sounds like "Yummy" (which you eat with your right hand in Arab culture). Yasar (Left) is everything else! Most GPS apps in Arabic will say "اتَّجِهْ يَمِينًا" (Ittajih yaminan) – "Turn right."
